BOSTON – Today, Greater Boston Chinese Golden Age Center announced it has received grant funding from Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) to address health needs in the communities the hospital serves. The $416,666 awarded to the Greater Boston Chinese Golden Age Center will help support the development of a behavioral health department within our agency

The grant awarded to Greater Boston Chinese Golden Age Center was part of a total of $7.25 million BIDMC announced in support for 11 local organizations.

“Our agency is deeply committed to addressing disparities by providing mental health services

in Chinese languages. We prioritize the delivery of culturally sensitive care, recognizing the vital significance of customizing our methods to align with the unique beliefs and values of our

community. We are honored to receive grant dunging from BIDMC to support our mission.

“said Ruth Moy, Executive Director of Greater Boston Chinese Golden Age Center.

“Our partners through the Community-based Health Initiative do tremendous and impactful work every day to address health and social needs,” said Pete Healy, President of BIDMC and Divisional President, Metro Boston, Beth Israel Lahey Health. “We are proud to support their ongoing work with our latest round of grants.”

The Greater Boston Chinese Golden Age Center will use the fund to enhance our existing program, HEALTHY IDEAS, and establish a dedicated behavioral health division within our organization. This initiative consists of three core components: educating about mental health to raise awareness, providing individual counseling sessions for Chinese-speaking adults, and facilitating support groups to promote ongoing peer assistance and improve mental wellness.

Since 2019, BIDMC has awarded $18.4 million in grants to invest in the health and well-being of the surrounding community. Through these grants, community partners have helped increase access to healthcare, employment opportunities and housing options. To see a full list of projects supported by BIDMC, visit here.
