Our agency is proud to receive a grant from Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center as part of its Community-based Health Initiative. With this support, we will start a new program “Healthy Ideas for Asian Seniors”.
Healthy Ideas is an evidence based, depression self-management program designed to detect and reduce the severity of depressive symptoms in older adults with chronic conditions and functional limitation.
The GBCGAC Program staff will screen seniors for symptoms of depression, assess their severity, educate seniors and caregivers about depression, assist in linking seniors to primary care and mental health providers and empower seniors to manage their depression through a behavioral activation approach which encourages involvement in meaningful activities.
